What a time to be a female in the sports world. It seems over the last year or so that women have really started to make their mark in the industry, and today is no exception. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have just hired not one, but two new female assistant head coaches. They’re the first NFL team to accomplish this feat, behind the help of first year Bucs coach, Bruce Arians.
Arians had accomplished a similar feat while he was the head coach in Arizona, hiring Jen Welter as his assistant coach there. While the position was only temporary, she’s been able to make an impact in the AAF as well, now serving as a linebacker coach for the Atlanta Legends.
There are a few other NFL teams that have adopted the trend of hiring female coaches, and they certainly won’t be the last. Consider that on my tab.
