Major League Baseball is a sport that focuses on history; after all it is America’s pastime. Just a few days ago, baseball did what it does best…make history.
On November 24, two new coaches were hired on by prestigious organizations, and both coaches are females.
The Chicago Cubs hired Rachel Folden and the New York Yankees hired Rachel Balkovec as their new hitting coaches.
Folden has previous experience working with college athletes as well as having her own clinic. Balkovec has previous experience with the Houston Astros organization. It’ll be interesting to see how these hires effect the hiring landscape of baseball, and I’m eager to see them both succeed.
Female coaching in men’s sports was almost unheard of but has been more common in recent years. I’d love to hear what our audience thinks about those identifying as females coaching men’s sports.
